Quick answer

Download the sound as MP3 with Tiktokdow, import it into Apple's free GarageBand app, trim it to 30 seconds or less, then in My Songs long-press the project and choose Share › Ringtone.

Open the downloader

Heard a sound on TikTok you can't stop humming? You can make it your ringtone in about five minutes, using two free tools: Tiktokdow to get the MP3, and Apple's GarageBand to turn it into a ringtone.

Part 1: download the sound

  1. In TikTok, open any video that uses the sound, tap Share, then Copy link.
  2. Open Tiktokdow in Safari, paste the link and tap Download.
  3. Tap Download MP3. The file saves to Files › Downloads.

Part 2: make the ringtone in GarageBand

  1. Install GarageBand from the App Store if you don't have it, and open it.
  2. Start a project. Tap +, swipe to Audio Recorder and tap Voice.
  3. Open the track view. Tap the Tracks button (the stacked lines icon) at the top left.
  4. Turn off the metronome (the triangle icon) so it doesn't play over your sound.
  5. Import the MP3. Tap the Loop Browser (the loop icon, top right) › Files › Browse items from the Files app, then choose your MP3 in Downloads.
  6. Drag it onto the track, lined up with the very start.
  7. Trim to 30 seconds. Drag the ends of the clip so it's 30 seconds or less.
  8. Save. Tap the down arrow at the top left › My Songs.
  9. Export as a ringtone. Long-press your project › Share › Ringtone, name it, then tap Export.
  10. Set it. Tap Use sound as… › Standard Ringtone, or set it later in Settings › Sounds & Haptics › Ringtone.

On Android

  1. Download the sound with Download MP3.
  2. Open Settings › Sound (or Sounds and vibration) › Phone ringtone.
  3. Tap + or From device / My sounds and pick the MP3 from Downloads.

Why is my sound so short?

Many songs are licensed to TikTok as short clips, so the MP3 is only as long as the clip. Original sounds made on TikTok usually download at full length.

A note on music rights

Using a song as your personal ringtone is an everyday, private use. Putting the same song into videos you publish, or selling it, needs permission from the rights holder.

FAQ

Why can't I set an MP3 as a ringtone directly?

iOS only accepts ringtones in its own format. GarageBand converts the MP3 for you, for free.

How long can an iPhone ringtone be?

Up to 30 seconds. GarageBand will shorten longer clips automatically, but trimming yourself lets you pick the best part.

Is GarageBand free?

Yes, it's a free Apple app on the App Store.

Can I use it as a text tone too?

Yes. When exporting, choose Standard Text Tone, or pick it later in Settings › Sounds & Haptics.

How do I do this on Android?

Download the MP3, then go to Settings › Sound › Phone ringtone and choose it from your Downloads folder.
